Alexander Calder (1898-1976) acclaimed and America's most influential sculptor, first made toys as a child. In 1926, he made mechanical toys that led to the creation of The Circus now on permanent view at The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. The following year an American toy company in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, manufactured a series of "Action Toys", inventive and playful creations by the artist.

Over three-quarters of a century after they were first introduced, Vilac in assocations with the Calder Foundation and Paperball, NY, is making the toys again for a new generation to discover and enjoy.
